Step 7: Mid-Term Goals (3–5 Year Vision)
For each Long-Term Goal, define 1–3 Mid-Term Goals that move you steadily toward the larger vision. Each Mid-Term Goal should include clear metrics and a specific timeframe.
Your Mid-Range Vision must be grounded in everything you’ve defined so far—your mission, guiding principles, laws, and life categories. These goals are not random; they are intentional stepping stones designed to keep you aligned with the manifestation of your Long-Term Vision.
Think of this as working backward from the dream. If your Long-Term Vision is to own a franchise with 10 or more locations within 7–10 years, then a well-aligned Mid-Term Goal might be to manifest 3 locations within the next 3–5 years. Every Mid-Term Goal should logically and energetically support the bigger picture.
Some Mid-Term Goals may resemble your Long-Term Vision on a smaller scale, while others will be more modest and foundational. Both are essential. Each step, no matter how small, leads directly to the realization of the larger vision.
Guidelines for Setting Mid-Term Goals
To the best of your ability, your Mid-Term Goals should be SMART:
Specific – Clearly defined and focused
Measurable – You can tell when the goal is complete
Achievable – Stretching, yet realistic and believable to you.
Relevant – Directly aligned with your Mid- and Long-Term Vision
Time-Bound – Designed to be completed within 3-5 years
Finally, continue using the same life categories you established earlier, and maintain the same priority order when defining your Mid-Term Goals. This ensures consistency, alignment, and momentum across every level of your life design.
